The 3rd annual geothermal conference was held in Fællessalen at Christiansburg on the 27th February 2019. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Heating for the future (Fremtidens Varme)’ and the event saw presentations from Danish minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate Lars Christian Lilleholt and from the Dutch director-general of Climate and Energy Sandor Gaastra among others.
Dansk Fjernvarme (Danish District Heating Association) wrote a feature article about how Geoop sees the implementation of geothermal heating into the district heating system, and how this support meeting our climate goals.
Geoop is participating in a feasibility study for geothermal energy in the Swedish region of Skåne. The study will run through the first half of 2018.

Geothermal heat is positioned to become a key component in the green transition. Geothermal energy has to be part of the forthcoming Danish energy bill. The near-term goal is to understand the value of geothermal energy in district heating, and the long-term goal is to introduce geothermal in large scale into district heating.
